Our goal was to have mom come home where she could have died with dignity away from strangers.  Although we didn't get her home, we know she did not die without dignity and she did not die with strangers.  Thanks to you all.

I'm writing this letter in regards to my mom.  She had fallen at home and broke her hip and was brought to Applewood.  I went to see her a few times while she was there.  I just wanted to tell you that your nursing home was absolutely beautiful, and also a beautiful place to spend your lost day.  If you couldn't spend your lost days at home, then there couldn't be a better place than Applewood.  The staff was wonderful, very nice, and extremely friendly.  There are a lot of wonderful people in the world- I know that by your staff.  They allow the residents to be individuals and they treat them with the dignity and the respect that they truly deserve.  That respect I see coming from your staff.  The way the were thoughtful and caring towards your residents and my friend and neighbor.  From me and all of the neighbors on my street, we would like to thank you all again from the bottom of our hearts.

        Last weekend I visited my mother at Applewood Nursing Home.  I was very happily surprised to find the home to be a nice place to have my mother.  I found all the employees most helpful, curtious, friendly, and cooperative.  Your home was was clean, my mother was clean, and the food seemed quite good.  Also, the grounds were very nice.  The weather was so nice and we were able to spend several hours over the weekend outdoors in the courtyard.  We were happily impressed.

        Keep up the good work and it seems like you have a very dedicated, loving Staff.

Our family would like to express our gratitude to [staff] who gave our dear mother such loving care, especially the last few weeks of her life.  The night of her death was a very stressful time as we also had to deal with my father.  We received such caring treatment, help, and understanding from all of the staff.  We thank all of the nurses and aides for taking time to know the residents, which showed in the wonderful care that was given.

        I'm sure caring for the elderly can be a difficult and, at times, a thankless task.  From what I've noticed during the last 7 years you perform this task well.

        But caring about the elderly is different.  It's not a task.  You either do or you don't.  The staff at Applewood care about people. 

        I could tell that my mother was happy at Applewood after she said, "Everyone is so good to me!"

        Our family has been blessed that my mother was so well cared for by a staff that cared about her too.

I would like to take this oppurtunity to thank Applewood Nursing Home for all that they have done for our mother.  Mom was there a long time but when the end came your Nursing Staff and aides were wonderful to her and to the family.  We cannot say enough about Station 1 nursing aides.  They sure helped us through a very hard time.  It is hard to lose someone you love, but everyone at Applewood was wonderful to mom and our family.

        Your job is so tough- I don't know how you do it.  I know we're not the only family that counts on you.

        My wife has been in your facility since June 12th, and I must say, my daughter, son, six grandchildren, and myself are all very much impressed with Applewood.  The children checked out four other nursing homes and we are all happy that we chose yours.

        It's hard to believe that you are able to employ such understanding and efficient help that are all polite and smiling- always.  The birds, fish, visiting rooms, and atmosphere are all super.

        Your front office explained everything thoroughly to me and my children.  In our eyes, management from the top to the bottom of the ladder are all most efficient and professional.

        We feel that our loved one could not be in a better place.
